Bird flu and backyard bird feeding of wild birds

You might read the title of this entry and think I'm about the rant about the media -- not today.

On very rare occasion, Judy or I will get a call or email from a customer wondering about the "Bird Flu." It seems everyone is talking Bird Flu these days and how horrible it could be. The fact is that it is not of any concern to those of us who enjoy feeding our backyard friends.

I don't want you to just accept my word for it though. If you are like my mother, you worry until someone can point you to something factual and legitimate. The web is great for spewing out information, however, being a critical evaluator of the source is key.

We have found an article that we think is the best one about Bird Flu (Avian Flu) as it relates to our fantastic hobby of back yard bird feeding. It has more information than you will need, but does have a swell 'top-ten-type' list at the beginning. Later in the article, all sources are quotes and linked; fantastic.
