Blogrolls and Who?
Hi,
First, many belated thanks go out to our veterans and their families... Thanks to the United States Coast Guard, the United States Marine Corps, the United States Navy, the United States Air Force, and the United States Army...
Next, it certainly isn't too late to lend a hand with the CA wildfire effort.
Onward...
One of my responsibilities in writing for this blog is to keep a sharp eye out for new bird bloggers and then add them to our blogroll... And while that sounds like an abundantly easy task, (the wife and I are "blog-o-holics"), it just ain't so. Sure, there are a ton of bird bloggers out there. (Just use our blogroll to link into the greater bird blogosphere...) But, so many blogs are lacking... It's not that they're shoddy, because they're not. It's just that so many are... Well... Void of human personality... There, I said it.
The reason we (the wife and I) don't include more blogs on our list is that so many blogs are manned by "bird-o-holics". (And that is not a knock! These are passionate people who will travel to the ends of the earth to report on all things bird. That is noble.) But, it isn't something with which the typical reader of this blog can identify. My guess is that you will spend a couple minutes reading this post and looking at the pictures. Your readership amounts to little more than a brief exchange with a neighbor about backyard birds as you pick up your mail. And that's perfectly fine, so long as you really know your neighbor.
So how do we put the personality into our unique blog? Well, I could drone on about how the wife once appeared on "Jeopardy" or how I was once thrown out of a police station, but that would hardly cover the bases. Nope... I'll just let our Christmas card pic below (depicting how we look when we go quahogging) do the talking.
So neighbor... We hope you have a better feeling for the "Who" behind this blog...
See you by those friendly feeders,
Mr. and Mrs. CapeCodAlan

I LOVE the photo! But you forgot a very important family member! Keep up the good work!
{Hi Marcia... Lol... You're right... You're right... Our ragdoll cat "Toby" chose to sit this one out... I'll see if I can't do better in the near future!

The way I heard it, it turns out that they needed SOMEONE to operate the Camera and that's the real reason Toby wasn't able to get into the shot.
Good job, Toby. But next time, try to get Mrs. Cape Cod Alan to face the camera! My guess is that she was focused on getting out to the beach. Quahoggers take their work seriously. This is a good thing unless, of course, you're the quahog.

If I had known this photo was going to be displayed so publicly, I would have either a) tidied the room up a bit more before the picture was taken, or b) at least photoshopped the scene to look a bit tidier!

Now see, that's what they mean by one man's (person's)floor is another man's ceiling. I looked at that photo and set my goal for my place to look so orderly... someday.
I hope folks notice the American Gothic photo on the mantel behind your Quahog Gothic pose.
