Apology to Jenna, Orioles, Spam, etc.

Hi all,

On May 22nd, 2008, Jenna submitted the following comment/question...

hi, i have orioles too, my feeder is the flat one, with all in one

feeding, oranges, jelly, sugar water, except they cant figure

out where the sugar water is any suggestions??

First an apology to Jenna... I never answered your question. The answer is, (from me anyway...) We find that orioles turn to sugar water as a "food of last resort". Also, bright colors (orange/red) and perches on the feeders are significant pluses. I hope others chime in with their thoughts.

And now an explanation to Jenna as to why my answer is so ridiculously late... When folks enter a comment, but don't enter an email address, the blog posting system automatically substitutes mine (capecodalan@ebirdseed.com). While this is fine, unfortunately nameless posts are virtually always spammers.

(How do I explain the rest of this??? Just tell the truth I guess...)

I get a lot of spam per day... Last night I emptied 30 or 40 messages. Right now I have a new batch of 22 spams... Of those, some are relatively harmless, (bikini sites, financial sites, etc.) So anyway, at times, the spam gets much worse than ugly, and I delete it as fast as I can. Sorry Jenna... Your email got caught in one of those purges... Again, I'm sorry.

Onward... The progress on the trellis moves forward in spits and starts... (Every dang time we get started, it starts raining... Grrr!) But at least you can see some progress below.

(We're getting there...)

See you by the feeders,
