Winding Down with a Crow and CCR et al

Crow looking in question_resized_DSC_0085.JPG

Yeah, a good old crow - after this election cycle I'm happy just to look at a bird. My guess is that a lot of us feel the same way regardless. The last two years have been rough on everyone, and the backyard is starting to look pretty good.

So I've fired up CCR and am looking at my favorite bird pics, and the crow above takes number one right now. (Though the Red wing Blackbird is the perennial favorite.)

I guess it's luck really - the gift to be able to look at a picture of a bird or a boat, queue up some simple Creedence or even Los Indios Tabajaras and just blow it all out. Down the road it might be time for politics. But not now.... Just birds...

The flicker was here today in all its yellow-underside glory. And the turkeys stopped by quieter than smoke's shadow. (I gotta tell ya... There's something just creepy about those birds. I put out seed, came in the house, looked out the window and there they were - seventy pounds of birds just wisping along. They must have been in the trees, on the roof, or huddled in the brush, but I never saw them.)

Anyway... I prattle on. My advice is that you be thankful the election is over, check out our bird library (below) and snuggle up with some good music like CCR.

See you by the feeders,

CapeCodAlan

Your photos are always fabulous, Alan! You always manage to capture the bird's personality (and irritation -- maybe you ought to back off with the camera just a bit...). :)

{CCA replies: Thanks Melissa... In a way I wish I could back off a little. That crow photo was taken from 18" with a fixed-focal-length remote camera which was triggered by the crow's movement. As for more conventional cameras, I believe that the lens and I are having what one might call a lover's quarrel...}
